Faculty-Led Programs

Developing and Coordinating the Experience

The Education Abroad (EA) Office is responsible for coordinating all faculty-led study abroad programs at Washington State University. Faculty members contemplating developing and leading a faculty-led program are encouraged to contact Anjie Bertramson, the Faculty-Led Program Coordinator in the Education Abroad Office, as early in the design process as possible. Below you will find the program development timeline and frequently asked questions.

  • Assist with program development, including the contract bid process;
  • Supply all necessary forms for establishment of the program including program proposal forms, participant applications, contracts, and incident report forms;
  • Assist with publicity and promotion of the Faculty-Led Program;
  • Assist with student application, screening and selection;
  • Handle monetary transactions, including collection of program fees and disbursement of funds, and submission of revised expense forms for student financial aid; and
  • Offer faculty workshops for program implementation.
  • Assist with pre-departure orientation sessions.

Faculty-Led Program Proposal Deadlines for 2011-2012
  • Deadline for Fall 2012 - Submit proposals to the Education Abroad Office - NOVEMBER 1, 2011
  • Deadline for Spring 2013 - Submit proposals to the Education Abroad Office - APRIL 1, 2012
  • Experience has proven that programs which are approved and implemented by the start of the Fall Semester have better recruitment and are more successful at maintaining applicants in order to run the program.
