Beginning in Summer 2011, SAI will offer an annual summer fellowship to a faculty member from an SAI-affiliated university or college. The purpose of the fellowship is to foster a deeper connection between faculty in our affiliate schools and Italian institutions, and to provide opportunities to faculty for continuing their research and studies. The award will include air travel and private apartment accommodation for one month, in Florence or Rome. Faculty who wish to have family or friends accompany them may be subject to a utility fee. Faculty may be nominated or can apply independently. The fellowship is individually designed, based on the needs and interests of the faculty fellow.

The application consists of a letter of intent from the faculty member; curriculum vitae; list of courses taught in the past three years; faculty’s discipline; and the proposed activity while in Italy, such as guest lecturing, independent research or other activities that enrich the fellow’s experiences with Italian language and culture.
