Pamela Duran
Director, Intensive American Language Center
Pamela earned her master's degree in TESL from the University of Idaho focusing on ESL writing, and has worked in the field for 20 years. Pam holds a bachelor's degree in Education and majored in both English and French. She spent a year studying in France, and she taught French and English in the public high schools for seven years. Pamela has been at the IALC since Fall 1988. In her position as Director of the IALC, she also serves as Associate Director of International Programs at WSU. Previously, she held the position of International Student Advisor for three years and the position of Assistant Director for five years.

Jeannie Bagby
Assistant Director, Instructor
Jeannie has been an instructor at the IALC since 1992. She earned an M.A. degree in English (with a focus in Composition and Rhetoric) and an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Washington State University. She has extensive experience in teaching composition and research methods for undergraduate and graduate students, and she is a professional editor. Jeannie has also completed additional coursework in Counseling Psychology.

Janice Corey
Instructor, Marketing Specialist
Janice holds a master's degree in TESL from the University of Idaho and has taught in the field since 1997. She spent her middle school years living in Pakistan and has traveled extensively throughout Asia. In addition to teaching, Janice is involved in student activities, summer programs and marketing. She is also certified by the Institute of Language and Phonology to offer accent modification training.

Anne Drobish-Shahat
Instructor
Anne holds a master's degree in TESL from the University of Idaho and has been teaching at the IALC since the summer of 2004. She took a leave of absence for a little over a year to teach in Japan in 2005. As often as possible, Anne spends a month in the winter visiting Egypt where her husband's family lives. Along with teaching, Anne has worked as the Assistant Coordinator of summer programs.

Eman Elturki
Instructor
Eman Elurki is a doctoral candidate in the Language, Literacy and Technology PhD program at Washington State University. Elturki holds a Master of Science in TESOL from the University of Southern California. She has taught EFL in Libya as well as in the United States. Her research interests include English language teaching, second language acquisition, educational technology, and discourse analysis.

Sharon Fraser-Allen
Instructor
Sharon Fraser Allen holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. She also has a Bachelor's of Education, with an ESL specialization, and a Bachelor of Science in Linguistics and Psychology. Sharon has over 15 years experience teaching English as a Second Language in the U.S.A, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. She has been a member of the IALC faculty since 2004.

Isabel Haller
Instructor
Isabel holds holds a master's degree in TESL from the University of Idaho, and has taught in the field of ESL since 1998. She began working at the IALC in 2006 after having worked as an ESL specialist in various public schools in Phoenix, Arizona. She also holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, and has her teaching certification for the state of Washington.

Ibtesam Hussein
Instructor
Ibtesam is a doctoral student in Language Literacy and Technology at Washington State University. She holds a Master’s degree in TESOL from the University of Pennsylvania and a certificate in Teaching for Business Communication from Penn Lauder Ciber Institute. She also holds a graduate diploma in English Language Teaching and Linguistics from Garyounis University, Libya. She has taught ESL for five years in Libya and two years in America. Her research interests include second language teaching and learning, second language acquisition and ESL composition.

Instructor, Wanda Hvezda
Instructor, International Student Advisor
Wanda holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a concentration in ESL from the School for International Training in Vermont, and has taught in the field since 1991, including teaching EFL in Japan. She came to teach at the IALC in 1997. Wanda is currently the International Student Advisor but also teaches in the program. She is certified by the Institute of Language and Phonology to train students to modify their accents.

Karen Jennings
Instructor, Faculty Development Specialist
Karen holds a master's degree in English Education with an emphasis in TESL from Temple University and has worked in the field since 1988. She also has a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and worked in that field in the public schools and hospitals for nine years. In addition to teaching, Karen has held the positions of short-term program coordinator and Faculty Development Specialist at the IALC. Karen is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and additionally has been trained and licensed by the Institute of Language and Phonology to offer accent modification training.

Tom Lee
Instructor
Tom received his master's degree in TESL from the University of Idaho. This goes along with a graduate degree in Vocational Education, and undergraduate degrees in Animal Science and Spanish. He has worked in various fields, the most recent, before ESL, being the agri-business industry. He has also had the good fortune of living and traveling in Latin America and is currently taking classes at WSU in this area. Tom has hopes of someday teaching English outside of the United States.

David Martin
Instructor
David Martin earned a MA-TESL degree in 2000 from the University of Idaho and has worked at the IALC since August of 2001. He has been tutoring and teaching both ESL and native English speaking students since 1997 and has recently received his teaching certificate for teaching in the public schools (K-12). He has also worked as a freshman composition teacher at WSU and has supported courses through Distance Degree Programs. Currently, he is completing his research project to obtain a masters degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction.

Janet Murai
Instructor
After having taught English in Japan for five years, Janet returned to the University of Idaho for her master's degree in TESL. She started working at the IALC in 2006 as a part-time instructor. Janet especially loves teaching grammar classes and learning about the students and their cultures. She and her husband, who is from Japan, are farmers south of Pullman.

Barbara Nasralla
Instructor, Curriculum Coordinator
Barbara has a BA in French Language and Literature from Whitman College; she earned her master's degree in TESL from the School for International Training in Vermont. She has worked in the field since 1989 and has been at the IALC since 1993. During her appointment at the IALC, she took a leave of absence for two years to teach in the United Arab Emirates. She has returned to the IALC and is currently the Curriculum Coordinator and an instructor in the program.

Jeff Nelson
Instructor, Educational Technology Coordinator
Jeff holds a master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Idaho, and is a Red Hat Certified Engineer. He is interested in Computer-Assisted Language Learning and has been teaching English since 1994. He has lived in Ecuador and the United Arab Emirates, and has done volunteer work in Colombia. He likes to race motorcycles and cook insects.

Nadia Nsir
Instructor
Nadia joined IALC in the summer of 2011. She is a PhD student in Language, Literacy and Educational Technology at WSU. She holds an M.A. degree in EFL from the University of Tripoli in Libya. She received the CELTA – TESOL Certificate from University of Cambridge- UK and a Certificate in "Integrating the Internet into the Classroom" at Lewis & Clark College-USA. Nadia also has a BA. in English with a focus in English Literature in the Victorian Age, and a BS. in Pharmacy from the University of Tripoli. She has an over 12- year experience of teaching EFL in Libya for the Oil sector employees and the undergraduate students. She also worked as a teaching adjunct in the College of Education at WSU.

Eloise Ariza-Rodriguez
Instructor
Eloise Ariza-Rodriguez earned her MA in TESOL from Colorado State University and her BA in linguistics from the University of Colorado. She has taught English, composition and Spanish in Spain, Peru, Egypt, Pakistan and Syria, as well as at colleges in the US.

Elena Smith
Graduate Student Advisor/Instructor
Elena received her Doctorate in English Linguistics from St. Petersburg State University, Russia, and holds a master's degree in Philology in German languages from the same university. She has taught in the field in Russia, Japan, and the U.S. She is an author of eleven publications on English grammar and semantics and has presented at numerous national and international conferences for ESL instructors. She began working at the IALC in 2000.
