International Teaching Assistants
The IALC is responsible for providing English language assessment of International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) at Washington State University. The Graduate School, in conjunction with individual departments, is responsible for acting on the recommendations of the IALC.
Our assessment is based on observations of both linguistic and paralinguistic features of the ITAs English language skills within the context of an academic presentation. The recommendations we make do not prevent international graduate students from receiving assistantship, but may limit the scope of interaction they may have with undergraduate students in particular contexts. Recommendations always include a means for students to improve their skills.
ITA Evaluation Schedule
Please complete the registration form and turn it into the IALC main office in McAllister Hall, Room 116, in order to schedule your evaluation. Be sure to know when your representative is available to attend the test with you. Evaluation dates and times are provided below, but please consider several options in case a time has been filled.
Note: Please schedule your exam at least two working days before your evaluation.
