Modernization of the Georgian State Agricultural University
Project Description
With the Georgian State Agricultural University (GSAU) and the Agricultural Technical Schools (ATS) develop a pilot project that will develop curricula and course materials that are integrated into a credit-based course system by using selected agricultural and science course work and demonstrations as a model. In collaboration with the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), Washington State University, and the University of Idaho conduct an assessment of curricula, faculty capabilities, and institutional needs at both the GSAU and three ATS. Outputs will include:
- An assessment of faculty capabilities and curricula for the GSAU agrarian faculty and related faculty.
- An assessment of faculty capabilities and curricula at three ATS.
- Identification of the elements of an articulation agreement that would facilitate the transfer of students from the agricultural technical schools to GSAU.
- Development of soil testing pilot curricula and capabilities at ATS.
- Development of cropping demonstration systems and applied research systems that incorporate faculties of GSAU and ATS.
- Installation and training in agricultural meteorology equipment at the ATS.
