International Sponsored Student Program
The International Sponsored Student Program at Washington State University is intended to assist international sponsored students and their sponsoring agencies, governments, institutes or organizations. The assistance provided is in various forms which are designed to:
- Actively support and promote the academic objectives or goals of the sponsored students and their sponsors.
- Allow sponsored international students to take full advantage of academic, cultural, and social opportunities at Washington State University and in the United States.
- Provide sponsors with current and regular records and reports on students academic progress upon request.
- Facilitate communication between student and sponsor regarding financial and programming needs.
- Monitor students immigration status and facilitate compliance with immigration regulations.
Services for the Student:
- Facilitate placement and admission of students in appropriate programs.
- Provide a special orientation program to meet the needs of sponsored students.
- Provide assistance in obtaining waiver of WSU medical insurance when sponsor's medical coverage meets University minimum requirements.
- Provide extra assistance in securing the appropriate professional services provided by the University.
- Guarantee funds for students as needed for tuition and fees.
- Provide information concerning opportunities for additional cross-cultural experiences while in the United States.
Services for the Sponsor:
- Facilitate the placement of students and their dependents in appropriate university housing upon request.
- Facilitate the placement of students in appropriate programs.
- Provide sponsoring agencies with reports on the academic progress of students upon request.
- Provide special orientation programs to meet the needs of sponsored students.
- Assist students to provide transcripts to the sponsor upon request.
- Arrange special campus meetings for sponsors to meet with students.
- Prepare and mail billing statements each semester or session.
- Allow extra time in making tuition payment when necessary.
IP Administrative Fee:
An administrative charge of three hundred dollars ($300) per academic term will be assessed to the sponsoring agency.
The administrative fee will be included on the billing statement each academic term.
