Service Units

International Programs facilitates, supports, and coordinates Washington State University's international activities. The scope of this mission involves work in several areas, which are outlined below.

Administration of International Programs

The administration of International Programs is led by the Vice Provost/Associate Vice President who oversees the service units, personnel, finances, and strategic planning.

Education Abroad

Korean hallThe Education Abroad Office (EA) seeks to assist in educating a diverse student body to become responsible global citizens and future leaders by enabling students to integrate an academically-challenging and personally-enriching education abroad experience into their four-year academic degree plan at WSU. EA also assists WSU faculty and departments with all aspects of designing and implementing faculty-led programs abroad.

Global Studies

FestivalThe Global Studies unit of International Programs assists and supports colleges and academic units across the WSU system with their efforts to internationalize the curriculum at all levels. In conjunction with these efforts, the unit houses the advising structure for the interdisciplinary, cross-university Global Studies minor.

Intensive American Language Center

Intensive English class instructionThe Intensive American Language Center (IALC) provides high quality, intensive English language instruction. Additionally, the IALC serves as an academic and cultural bridge for international students preparing for admission, and for current students who seek to develop their language skills.

International Enrollment

Lab ResearchThe International Enrollment (IE) unit recruits international students, provides incentives and information, and helps guide prospective students through the application and admissions process.

Office of International Students and Scholars

Office of International Students staffer Denise Keeton with Orientation AssistantsThe Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) assists international students and visiting faculty with immigration, nonacademic, and social adjustments necessary for a successful educational, research, and cultural experience at Washington State University.
