J-1 Scholars

The Exchange Visitor (J) non-immigrant visa category is for individuals approved to participate in work-and study-based exchange visitor programs.

There are four principle categories within the Exchange Visitor Program in which WSU sponsors international faculty:

  • Professors, Research Scholars, Short Term Scholars, Specialists

B-1 Visitors

When a department invites a foreign professional to visit WSU for a short duration (usually several days to several weeks), the immigration status of B-1 (Visitor for Business) might be appropriate.

Securing this status will simply necessitate a letter of invitation from the Department Chair/Director/Dean.
