Features: Founded in 1949, International Christian University (ICU) is one of Japan’s most prestigious universities and is ideal for the student looking for an academically challenging program. ICU emphasizes breadth as well as depth of knowledge and offers inquisitive and motivated students from around the world a unique bilingual educational experience. The campus of 150 wooded acres sits on the western doorstep of Tokyo. At ICU the classes are small; the faculty are accomplished and dedicated; and the campus environment is both beautiful and conducive to learning. Over 90% of students are Japanese citizens, and ICU welcomes approximately 100 exchange students each year. Students can participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities and organizations, including baseball, basketball, drama, karate, kendo, modern dance, glee-club, or tea ceremonies.

Established in 1965 as a small business college, TIU has grown from humble beginnings to a fully accredited private university with 5 undergraduate and 4 graduate schools. The Japan Studies Program (JSP) was established at Tokyo International University in 1989. Program enrollment is around 30 students per semester, among a TIU student body of 6,400 Japanese and 700 international students.

Features: Toyo University was founded in 1887 as a school of philosophy.
