Born and raised in Vancouver, Washington, Cheri has lived on the Palouse since 1995 and has been part of the Global Learning team since September 2013. Cheri is the first point of contact for the department and is responsible for email and phone communication and office scheduling. She manages and oversees the study abroad application process, implements office deadlines, and works with Global Learning’s student Peer Advisors. Cheri also creates and maintains program flyers for the office.

Off the clock, Cheri enjoys spending time with family, photography, having coffee with a friend, and helping others. If you need assistance, let her know!

What advice would you give students preparing to go abroad?

Take and keep a journal, you don’t want to forget a single moment of this life-altering experience! Also, leave your expectations behind, go into it with an open mind and learn from every experience, good or not so good. It will change you.

What is one of the most important lessons you’ve learned while working in international education?

I have learned that studying abroad is an invaluable experience that provides personal and educational development that will open career and life opportunities. It will give you the chance to submerge yourself into another culture in a way that simple travel can’t possibly do.

What is your favorite part about working in international education?

The opportunity to work with students and help them make their study abroad dreams come true.
