Poetry and the Universal Landscape
Poetry has been a constant in Ireland for centuries. It is part of the bedrock of the island's culture. On this trip, we will study how poems have been made from the Irish landscape. We will think about poetry in the context of the histories and landmarks that make Ireland a learning destination. Join us as we explore literary Dublin; visit the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, and Galway; read Yeats in Sligo; and travel to Derry and Belfast to learn about the Troubles. Earn 3 or 6 credits, studying Irish poets, creative writing, or both.

Spain: Art & Cultures in Andalucia
The purpose of this course is to study the crossing of art and cultures in Andalucía in the cities of Cordoba, Seville, and Granada. Here, different cultures - Arab, Jewish, and Christian - came to coexist peacefully according to tradition following the Moorish invasions of the Iberian peninsula in CE 711. Those centuries of Andalucían history left a rich legacy in art, architecture, historical sights, language, and most of all: a contemporary, vibrant Andalucían culture in which all these historical influences find the beginning in Madrid. And we'll take an excursion to Motril by the Mediterranean to try to understand how culture affects art and how cultures produce different expressions.
