International Student Deferral Policy

Deferral policy

  • If a student cannot come for their first start term, they can request a deferral of their application. If approved, we will waive the application fee and Enrollment and Orientation Fee (if already paid) for the deferred application.  
  • If a student cannot come for the start term of their third application, they can request a deferral of their application. If approved, we will waive the application fee and Enrollment and Orientation Fee (if already paid) for the deferred application. 

Terms and Conditions

  • Deferral to the next semester is not guaranteed. All deferral requests must be submitted by the first day of the term and are subject to review. 
  • An application must have an admissions decision (incomplete or unreviewed applications cannot be deferred). 
  • An application cannot be deferred to a start term more than 12 months after the original application term. 
  • All deferral requests must have a valid reason (e.g., visa denial, not able to secure a visa appointment in time, military service, etc.). 
  • IP Admissions will review only 4 total applications, regardless of admission type (i.e., bachelor’s, master’s, Academic English).
