Interns help run the International Center’s daily operations and help develop and operate the center’s core programs.

We are now hiring for fall 2026 IC interns

An internship at the International Center (IC) will help you develop intercultural communication and practical skills that are personally rewarding and highly valuable in an increasingly global society. An internship at the IC makes you more marketable for a job post-graduation.

Internships are open to international and domestic students alike. Internships at the International Center are not paid positions.

An International Center internship provides customized professional development for each intern, with experience gained through the internship and through additional intercultural communication training.

Interns gain tangible experience working with and serving a diverse population representing over 100 countries while working on a diverse team representing Washington, the US, and a range of countries.

Internships are a semester-long commitment, and interns are expected to dedicate up to ten hours per week to performing their duties in the International Center.

Academic credit may be available. Students, please check with your advisor and/or academic department for credit approval. Past interns have used the internships to fulfill requirements for Carson College of Business; Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design, and Textiles; Murrow College of Communication; Human Development; Psychology; UNIV courses; and more.

Be part of the leadership team

As an International Center intern, you are part of the center’s diverse leadership team. In your specific internship area, you will lead and implement critical aspects of the International Center’s mission.

Together with the center’s staff and fellow interns, you will:

• Develop your intercultural communication professional skills in an international office environment
• Gain experience in marketing, events planning, or program management
• Attend weekly staff and team meetings, contribute ideas and constructive criticism, and provide feedback and expertise on projects
• Engage in outreach and participate in volunteer programs focused on international issues and global citizenship through the International Center and other campus/community entities
• Share general office and customer service duties: answering phones, responding to emails, and collaborating with fellow interns, staff, faculty, student organizations, and community members

The two internship teams
