Boren

The National Security Education Program’s Boren Scholarships represent an opportunity for U.S. undergraduates to study abroad in world regions critical to U.S. interests including Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. (Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded as well as countries in Western Europe.)

Eligibility

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be an undergraduate during the grant period
  • Be in good health

Fulbright

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards 1-year study abroad grants for seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students who will perform an individually designed study or research project or who will enter an English Teaching Assistant program.

Eligibility

Please consult the Fulbright website for a full list of eligibility requirements. In general, a student should:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a conferred bachelor’s degree before the start of the grant
  • Be in good health
  • Have sufficient proficiency in the written and spoken language of the host country to communicate with the people and to carry out the proposed study/research

Gilman

Gilman international scholarships are for undergraduate study abroad and made to students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at 2-year or 4-year colleges or universities. By supporting students who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints, Gilman awards were created to diversify the types of students who apply to study abroad and the countries and regions where they go.

Rhodes

Rhodes scholarship logo

Rhodes Scholarships are the oldest, most celebrated international fellowship awards in the world. Per the website of the American Rhodes Scholarships, 32 young Americans are selected as Rhodes Scholars each year based on outstanding scholarly achievements, character, leadership potential, and commitment to others and to the common good. Full financial support for Rhodes Scholars to pursue a degree or degrees at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom is provided by the Rhodes Trust, a British charity established to honor the will and bequest of Cecil J. Rhodes.

Eligibility

WSU will select students for endorsement through WSU review processes. Students will be notified in early September if selected for endorsement.
