Apply for international undergraduate admission if you are a citizen of a country other than the United States of America and not a permanent resident of the United States.
Admission
WSU accepts international undergraduate applications at any time of year and operates on a rolling admission basis. However, our priority deadlines are April 15 for fall admission, Nov. 1 for spring admission, and Feb. 1 for summer admission.

Application Process Steps
- Fill out all of the required questions on the application and resolve any errors on the “Review” tab. Submit the application.
- Pay the non-refundable $70 application fee through the FutureCoug Portal.
- Submit all required documents, as indicated by the application checklists on the FutureCoug Portal. These materials can be uploaded through the portal, or by replying to the missing item notification emails.
- Our staff will review the application, including evaluating English proficiency and academic performance. Borderline applications will go through a secondary review, and Graduate Foundation program applications will be sent to the department for review.
- An admissions decision will be made to either admit or deny the application.
- Admitted applicants can confirm their offer of admission by submitting the Offer Response form and including proof of finance documents. Admitted applicants can also request a change of campus, request a deferral, or decline their offer through this form.
- Our staff will review the submitted proof of finance documents, and once approved, invite the applicant to pay the $500 Enrollment and Orientation Fee through the FutureCoug Portal.
- Once we have received the Enrollment and Orientation Fee, our staff will issue the I-20 document.
- The applicant is responsible for paying the I-901 fee to the United States government, and then for scheduling a visa interview appointment.
- A United States consular officer will conduct the interview and either grant or deny the visa.
For applications received from agents or educational representatives, Washington State University requires payment of a non-refundable $2000 tuition deposit be paid when the student is granted a visa. These funds will be applied towards tuition costs once the student is enrolled. This payment is due immediately upon notification that the student’s visa has been approved. If the non-refundable $2000 deposit is not paid, the I-20 letter will be withdrawn and the application canceled.
