  1. Is spring 2021 your last semester at WSU?

If you will be leaving WSU after spring 2021, please let ISSS know your plans!

The three most common actions taken at the end of studies are:

  1. Depart the United States. If you will be leaving the United States at the end of spring 2021, please log in to https://mypassport/wsu.edu and complete the Program Completion Form.
  2. Apply for OPT. To apply for OPT, please complete the Optional Practical Training form found under F-1 Student Services in https://mypassport.wsu.edu. J-1 Students may be eligible for Academic Training, which is similar to OPT. The Academic Training request form can be found on https://mypassport.wsu.edu.
  3. Transfer SEVIS record. If you will be transferring your SEVIS record to another U.S school, please log in to https://mypassport.wsu.edu and complete the SEVIS Transfer Out form. In this form, please indicate what date you would like us to transfer your SEVIS record to the other institution.

  1. March 8, 2021: Priority registration for summer 2021*

If you are looking to save some money in tuition and potentially complete your degree earlier, then check out WSU’s summer session. All students pay in-state tuition for the summer session!

Priority registration for summer-session classes begins March 8, 2021.

More information on available classes, tuition, and deadlines can be found here: https://summer.wsu.edu/

*If you are an Academic English or Bridge student, please check with Kimberly Cooper at kimberly.a.cooper@wsu.edu if you can apply for summer session.

  1. Tax time! Sprintax software available and workshop

It is time for taxes. IP-ISSS will be offering materials for your convenience starting Monday, Feb.15, 2021.

Did you have NO income in 2020?

International students who did not receive U.S.-based income should still file a tax form, Form 8843, prior to June 1, 2021. You can also download the form at https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8843.pdf

Did you have income in 2020? Do you have dependents?

GOOD NEWS! ISSS will offer FREE access to online tax preparation software specifically designed for international students. This software is available now.

You can log in to myPassport.wsu.edu and select Tax Software to fill out the form.

International students who were employed at WSU in calendar year 2020 should have received a report of wage earnings (form W-2) from the Payroll Service Office. Students should use this form to complete and send their tax return to the U.S. government. Tax returns are due by April 15, 2021.

  1. Mailing services disrupted due to weather

The United States Postal Service and FedEx have released several statements about delayed mail and package deliveries across the U.S. as winter weather continues to impact roadways in some parts of the country. We appreciate your patience as delays in receiving mail are to be expected.
