- Travel Advisory
Please keep in mind that the upcoming semester starts on January 6 and that we have a new federal administration coming later in January. Please ensure you have returned to the United States and to your WSU campus prior to term start and administration change. Please get in touch with our office if you have any questions.
If you have specific questions about your travel plans, visa status, or documentation, please feel free to reach out to our office. We are here to support you.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we wish you a safe and restful break.
- Taxes
Tax season is soon approaching (January through April), so it’s time to start getting familiarized with its terms and regulations. Please visit our website to learn more about taxes and what to prepare for.
- Tax for international students that receive grants/scholarships above the cost of tuition and mandatory fees
If you receive throughout to year grants/scholarships above the cost of tuition and mandatory fees, please make sure to check your student account each semester (around mid-term is perfect) and connect with Bursar’s office within the same tax year if you do see a tax withholding charge.
Charges within the same tax year can be fixed, but after December 31st it is more complicated.
- International Programs office hours winter break – Plan ahead!
The ISSS office will be closed, but available for emergencies during the University Winter Closure between Dec. 23 and Jan. 1. During that time, we cannot commit to processing requests so PLAN AHEAD if you need to submit a request to our office before the end of the month.
Please email us for questions or to arrange an advising appointment. We will make sure someone from our team is available to help during this time.
- Update your address!
By immigration regulations, F and J students must report address changes within 10 days of any move. Please make sure to update your information in the mypassport system: F-1/J-1 Student Services > F-1/J-1 Address Update Form. Also, update it in your myWSU account.
- WSU Pullman dining options December and early January – Pullman students only
If you are staying in campus housing, dining services will have limited availability over the University closure. Please visit this site for information on what will be open and business hours.
- Applying for scholarships
International students may not be eligible for all WSU scholarships, but there are over 200 that can be awarded to students on a visa. Please visit Student Financial Services and use their filter tool to check what applications you can submit year-round.
If you have any questions about the above announcement, please contact International Student and Scholar Services.
