Important Travel Information

On May 27, 2025, the U.S. State Department announced an immediate suspension of scheduling new visa interviews for international students (F, M, and J visa categories). This suspension is part of the department’s preparation to implement expanded social media screening for all international applicants.

We strongly recommend not traveling abroad at this time. Please continue to refer to this page for travel advice.

If you are currently outside the U.S., were planning to renew your visa stamp, and do not have a confirmed visa appointment yet, we recommend reaching out to the respective U.S. embassy or consulate before making any further travel arrangements to the U.S., or elsewhere. The suspension of new visa interviews means you may not be able to secure a visa in time to return for the Fall term.

If you have a scheduled visa appointment, according to the State Department, appointments that have already been scheduled will proceed as planned.

We understand that these changes may cause uncertainty and concern. Our office is here to support you during this time. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us at ip.intlservices@wsu.edu, book an appointment or call 509-335-4508.

If you have any questions about the above announcement, please contact International Student and Scholar Services.
