  1. Cougar Health Services survey

Please provide your feedback so we can work to improve services. This survey is completely anonymous, but you will have a chance to enter a raffle for a small prize at the end of the questionnaire.

Please respond by April 9: https://wsu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2h3SotwwyYRxBlk

  1. Apply to become a Peer Mentor!

Peer Mentors help new international students transition to life at WSU, provide helpful information, and connect students to resources on campus and in the community. As a Peer Mentor, you will:

  • Get paid
  • Learn about a new culture
  • Develop intercultural communication skills
  • Gain mentorship experience
  • Build professional networks
  • Boost your resume for graduate school and future employment!

Application deadline: April 7. Join the program by filling out an application on our website: https://ip.wsu.edu/on-campus/application-information/. If you have questions, please contact ip.intlservices@wsu.edu. We hope you will join our team!

  1. Need to do an off-campus internship? Apply for CPT!

Are you in an academic program that requires you to do off-campus internships?

Then speak to an international student advisor or your local DSO about CPT (Curricular Practical Training). This is the off-campus work authorization for curricular-related internships. It is highly recommended that you apply for this government authorization whether the internship is paid or unpaid.

Although CPT is reviewed and approved by ISSS, it is a technical application so we recommend applying early.

If you are thinking about applying for internships but are not sure if you are eligible for CPT, please speak with your academic advisor AND an international student advisor before you begin applying. This will help save you time.

  1. Message of support from IP

The Office of International Programs stands with our international and domestic community against all hate crimes and is here to support international students in need. Please check our messages to AAPI and our Burmese community on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WSUInternational/

Additionally, if you are in Pullman, join our community in a march against AAPI hate on April 3  starting at 2 p.m. from Reaney Park.

  1. Tax time! Sprintax software available and LAST workshop

It is time for taxes. IP-ISSS is offering materials for your convenience.

Did you have NO income in 2020?

International students who did not receive U.S.-based income should still file a tax form, Form 8843, prior to June 1, 2021. You can also download the form at https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8843.pdf

Did you have income in 2020? Do you have dependents?

GOOD NEWS! ISSS offers FREE access to online tax preparation software specifically designed for international students. This software is available now.

You can log in to myPassport.wsu.edu and select Tax Software to fill out the form.

International students who were employed at WSU in calendar year 2020 should have received a report of wage earnings (form W-2) from the Payroll Service Office. Students should use this form to complete and send their tax return to the U.S. government. Tax returns are due by May 17, 2021.
