September 27, 2024 Immigration Advisory

Please read this information as a guide to help you with your studies and maintain a valid immigration status. The information below may not apply to international students at all campuses.

  1. International student drop hold
  2. Open advising hours

  1. International student drop hold

To prevent international students from falling out of status by dropping below full-time enrollment, a registration drop hold was placed on all international students’ WSU accounts.

You will need to request all drops/withdraws through International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). You can do this by completing the Drop/Withdraw form under “Enrollment Change Forms” on myPassport.

This hold does NOT impact your ability to add classes for either fall 2024 or future terms!

However, if you have an International Tutorial Hold, this one DOES prevent enrollment, and you need to speak with our office immediately. Check your myWSU holds and act soon.

  1. Open advising hours for all campuses

Do you have questions or concerns about your immigration status (F-1 or J-1)? If so, our office has open advising hours every Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Call 509-335-4508 or join over zoom between 1 and 3 p.m. weekdays to meet with an advisor. We cannot accommodate same-day appointments with advisors, or meeting students outside the hours above. So, relying on the open advising hours is the fastest way to get assistance.

Remember: Do not rely on friends and/or an internet search for immigration advice – ask International Student and Scholar Services!

If you have any questions about the above announcement, please contact International Student and Scholar Services.
