Engineering-Computer Science

The state of Washington is home to some of the biggest names in technology, such as Microsoft, Amazon, Expedia and much more. Since their founding these companies have turned to WSU to find qualified computer science engineers. Many notable Washington State University alumni have left their mark on the field of technology, including Microsoft Co-founder Paul Allen as well as:

  • Hary Gunarto, PhD 1988 – Researcher and Professor Emeritus at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University
  • Simon Lam, BS 1969 – Researcher and internet security pioneer, Professor Emeritus at University of Texas at Austin
  • Ed Schweitzer, PhD 1979 – Inventor and founder of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories based in Pullman, Washington

Your journey to making your own mark on the world begins at WSU.

WSU’s computer science program in the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture (VCEA) emphasizes software design and testing. You can broaden your studies by working with an advisor to choose courses that fulfill the degree requirements and give you specialized knowledge in other areas, such as artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, security, networks, distributed systems, and more.
