Please read this information as a guide to help you with your remote studies and to maintain valid immigration status. Contents:
****************************************** 1. Survey – your opinion matters to us! International Student and Scholar Services in the Office of International Programs is here to support you. To continue meeting your needs, we would like to know more about your time at WSU so far, including your experiences on-campus and remotely. The survey can be accessed here and should take about 5-7 minutes. It is completely anonymous, meaning that your answers cannot be connected back to you. Participation in this survey is voluntary, but we value your perspective and hope you will take this opportunity to let your voice be heard. If you choose to participate, please complete the survey no later than Friday, October 2nd. If you have questions about the survey, feel free to reach out to us directly at ip.intlservices@wsu.edu. Thank you for your time. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 2. International student drop hold To prevent international students from falling out of status by dropping below full-time enrollment, a registration drop hold was placed on all international students’ WSU accounts. You will need to request all drops/withdraws through International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), or your campus DSO. You can do this by completing the Drop/Withdraw form under “Enrollment Change Forms” on https://mypassport.wsu.edu. For other campuses, please contact your local DSO. This hold does NOT impact your ability to add classes for either fall 2020 or future terms! ——————————————————————————————————————————— 3. Important deadlines Please review the Academic Calendar for all important dates! You can find the calendar here: http://registrar.wsu.edu/academic-calendar/. Academic deadlines are nonnegotiable, so please plan appropriately for any requests. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 4. TA/RA assistantships for international graduate students abroad Many international graduate students with a teaching or research assistantship (TA/RA) appointment want to continue their appointments for fall 2020 and beyond by working remotely from their home country or country of residence. This creates a series of issues relating to employment and taxation law and WSU’s respective obligations in these areas. Please visit this page for a comprehensive FAQ on TA/RA from abroad. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 5. COVID-19 testing resumed COVID-19 testing inside Beasley Coliseum at the Pullman campus has been resumed after pausing due to poor air quality in the region. Click here for more information. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 6. International student Career Coffee Hour The International Center is partnering with ASCC and International Students’ Council to bring you a mini-career fair just for international students. There will be representatives from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, International Student Advisors and Student Ambassadors. This event is by registration only, so sign up here! ——————————————————————————————————————————— If you have any questions about the above announcements, please contact International Student and Scholar Services.
