        1. ISSS Office Hours and Request Processing Times

ISSS is working remotely Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with open advising hours between 1 and 3 p.m. Pacific (Pullman) time. We process requests submitted in the myPassport system within 5 business days and are currently mailing all new, issued documents to students to their home address.

Please visit our webpage for updated information related to Covid-19 and government regulations impacting international students.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email ip.intlservices@wsu.edu or call 509-335-4508 to request it.

        1. Technology Help

From Jan.19 until Jan. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. Pullman time, email ip.tech@wsu.edu to get help with accessing Blackboard, logging in to myPassport, network ID issues, and more from our IP tech team!

        1. Update Address in myPassport

Your address updates in myWSU no longer feed into myPassport, the system that reports changes to the U.S government. Therefore, please make sure that you complete an Address Update Form in myPassport within 10 days of changng addresses. (This is a government regulation.)

        1. Academic Dismissal or Recession and Impact on Status

If you are in the U.S. and have been dismissed or recessed from WSU for the spring 2021 term due to a low GPA, please speak with an International Student Advisor immediately! Your immigration status is tied to your enrollment, so you will need to act soon to remain in the United States.

Do you need to return home or are you having a hard semester and thinking about cancelling all your classes (withdrawing from all of your classes)? If so, please speak with an International Student Advisor before you do anything. Your F-1 or J-1 status is tied to your full-time enrollment. Unless you have a documented serious medical issue and have received approval from ISSS, you CANNOT remain in the United States without enrollment. (Summer is excluded.)

An International Student Advisor can help discuss your options with you and guide you through the process. Please attend our open advising hours between 1-3 p.m. Pullman time.

        1. WSU Holiday Closure – Jan. 18, 2021

Please note ISSS and most campus offices will be closed on Jan.18, 2021, in honor of Martin Luther King Junior. Classes start the next day, Jan. 19, 2021.

        1. Academic Integrity and Plagiarism – Why is it important?

At Washington State University, violations of academic integrity such as plagiarism, unauthorized assistance, and fabrication are taken seriously. Taking part in acts of academic dishonesty can lead to permanent expulsion from WSU, so it is important that you be aware of what academic dishonesty means and how to avoid it.

If you are expelled from WSU, you will either need to return to your home country immediately or find another school to transfer to where you can finish your degree. So, it is important you take this seriously.

WSU has put together a great website with tips on how to avoid being accused of academic dishonesty. Check out the tips here: https://www.academicintegrity.wsu.edu/avoiding-academic-dishonesty/.

If you are accused of an act of academic dishonesty, here is more information on the steps to follow: https://www.academicintegrity.wsu.edu/ai-violation-process/.
