  1. WSU vaccination protocol: updated timelines and information

WSU is aligning student and employee COVID‑19 vaccination protocols following Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 20‑14.1 and full FDA approval of the Pfizer vaccine. Please carefully read the following for updated timelines and information.

  • All WSU students must be compliant (provided proof of initiation of vaccination or filed an exemption) with the vaccine requirement by Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.
    • The process for compliance is available on the Cougar Health Services website.
    • As of Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, students can no longer file personal exemptions.
    • Any students not in compliance by Sept. 10 will face academic holds.
  • Any WSU student with a personal exemption currently on file must provide proof of full vaccination, or request a religious or medical exemption by Monday, Oct. 18, 2021.
  • The updated process to request a medical or religious exemption will be released next week.
  • Student employees will have to provide proof of vaccination to both Cougar Health Services and Workday. WSU is working on a streamlined process for student employee exemptions and will provide more information next week.

To find a vaccine provider near you, please visit vaccines.gov. Students can schedule their vaccine on the Pullman campus, through Cougar Health Services.

  1. Online orientation check-in

If you are a new student this fall term, in addition to completing the Canvas orientation, you are required to complete an online check-in on myPassport. Here is how to access the form:

  • Log in to https://mypassport.wsu.edu with your WSU NetID and password.
  • Click on “New Student Orientation.”
  • Review all the forms and complete them.

Failure to complete the forms will make us unable to register your SEVIS record, which will put you out of status, so please complete them as soon as possible.

  1. Not returning fall 2021?

Please notify our office if you are transferring to another school, stopping your studies, or taking a break/leave of absence. We need to know so we can update your SEVIS record accordingly. You may submit your request through https://mypassport.wsu.edu, under F-1 Student Services>Transfer and Departure forms.

We understand that each student’s situation is unique, so if you have questions, we encourage you to contact us at ip.intlservices@wsu.edu or +1 509-335-4508.

  1. No longer have F-2/J-2 dependent(s)?

Please notify our office immediately if your F-2/J-2 dependent is no longer in that status. Reasons for a dependent not to have F-2/J-2 status vary and can be due to a change of status to F-1/J-1, divorce, or departure from the U.S., among others. Meet with an international student advisor or contact us at ip.intlservices@wsu.edu or +1 509-335-4508 if you have any questions about your dependent status.

  1. Change of address

Please notify International Student and Scholar Services immediately if you changed your home address over the summer. Federal regulations require you to notify our office within 10 days of any move in the U.S. Here is how to update your address:

  • Log in to https://mypassport.wsu.edu with your WSU NetID and password.
  • Click on “F-1 Student Services.”
  • Complete the “F-1 Address update form.”

  1. Career Services workshop series

Are you about to start your career? Do you know how to package your international experience to help you stand out? Enhance your education by attending one or more workshops offered by International Programs Career Services.

Thursday, Sept. 2 | 3:30 p.m. | Kruegel G-10

Getting Involved or “Pre-Professional Involvement”

Learn how and why to build your network, find community, and join organizations on campus and in the community.

  1. Learning Support Center

The Learning Support Center is open and here to help all international students and scholars! Come see our new space in Kruegel G-10, the basement of Kruegel Hall. If you haven’t looked at the LSC website yet, you can find it here.

The site includes a complete tutoring schedule with convenient hours where you can find a live tutor to help you with your classes (including evening hours!). Find the tutor schedule here. Tutoring hours are still available virtually through Zoom.

  1. Involvement opportunity for first- and second-year students

The Cougs Lead program is looking for first- and second-year students to join! This free, semester-long program is an opportunity for students to meet new people and develop their leadership and personal skills. Participating students will learn about student organizations, off-campus opportunities, and student government. This is a great way to learn how to get involved at WSU and in the Pullman community, prepare for future leadership opportunities, and add something to your resume. See https://studentinvolvement.wsu.edu/leadership/cougs-lead/ or email sild.cougslead@wsu.edu to learn more about Cougs Lead. The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m., and the application can be found on the Cougs Lead website.”
