Please read this information as a guide to help you with your studies and maintain valid immigration status. The information below applies to international students at all campuses.
Contents
- International student drop hold
To prevent international students from falling out of status by dropping below full-time enrollment, a registration drop hold was placed on all international students’ WSU accounts.
You will need to request all drops/withdraws through International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). You can do this by completing the Drop/Withdraw form under “Enrollment Change Forms” on mypassport.wsu.edu.
This hold does NOT impact your ability to add classes for either fall 2023 or future terms!
- Important deadlines
Please review the Academic Calendar for all important dates! Academic deadlines are nonnegotiable, so please plan appropriately for any requests.
- International Entrepreneur Rule
Under the International Entrepreneur Rule (IER), Homeland Security may use its parole authority to grant a period of authorized stay, on a case-by-case basis, to foreign entrepreneurs who demonstrate that their stay in the United States would provide a significant public benefit through their business venture and that they merit a favorable exercise of discretion. Students should consult with an experienced immigration attorney on such an application and understand its implication to their legal F-1 and J-1 statuses.
